Anger Management (3)
'You're blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight' MATTHEW 5:9
Jesus said, 'The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks' (Luke 6:45 NIV). Notice that word, 'stored'. When we store something as dangerous as anger, we give it room to fester and breed more danger.
If we leave a toothache untreated, the pain seems to grow and grow, until one day you can't even sleep because the pain has spread from one tooth to your entire face. If we leave anger untreated, the pain preoccupies us, it saps our energy, it drowns out our love, it controls our thoughts, it spreads right across our life until one day you realise it has hindered your progress in life, damaged your relationship with God, and your whole outlook is off centre.
Ask God for the humility and courage to deal with today's problems today. When your head hits the pillow tonight, know you've exercised these words, 'You're blessed when you get your inside world, your mind and heart, put right. Then you can see God in the outside world. You're blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That's when you discover who you really are, and your place in God's family' (Matthew 5:8-9 TM)
