Your new wardrobe
'no one pours new wine into old wineskins.' MARK 2:22
Imagine it's your lucky day - you've been given ?2000 to get yourself a whole new wardrobe. You jump on the bus and hit the shops, grabbing yourself some amazing outfits for every occasion. When you get home, the first thing you do is try everything on again, and do a little fashion show in front of the mirror. After a shopping trip like that, you proudly wear your new clothes everyday, showing the world just how mighty fine you look.
You wouldn't get home, throw your clothes all over the floor, chuck food on them to cover them in stains, get out the scissors and cut a few holes in them, roll them about in some mud and get the dog to use them as his bed for a week, and only then would you put them on and wear them. If you did, that would be crazy, right? So if that's the case, why would you even think about doing that with your spiritual clothes? When you become a Christian, it's like God gives you that whole new-life-wardrobe. He gets rid of the old rough edges. So, don't go jumping straight into the old scabby clothes of your life before. Be proud of the changes in you, and show love instead of hate, humility instead of conceit, and worship of God instead of idolatry. Why bother with rags when God's given you riches?
