Your Dad Loves You
'How great is the love the Father has lavished on us...' 1 John 3:1
It has been said that some fathers remind us of blisters - they don't show up until after the work is done! What do you think? How would you finish the sentence that begins 'Fathers are...'?
Our views about dads are learnt mainly, from our own dad. What is it you've been learning? Sometimes dads die when children are still young; sometimes, for many different reasons, dads choose not to live with their children; sometimes that decision is made by someone else. It means that some of us grow up not knowing what it's like to have a father around.
And the dads that are around make mistakes. All dads get it wrong sometimes, and some dads make big mistakes often. It means some children grow up neglected or abused, feeling unloved or unwanted.
Did you know that you have an unbelievably brilliant, indescribable Dad? His name is God. He says, 'I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters...' (2 Corinthians 6:18 NLT).
He is a dad like no other. He is so attentive, He knows everything about you - your past, present and future. He doesn't miss a thing. And He loves you, 'cos He loves you, 'cos He loves you. Don't think He's just like your earthly dad - He's much, much better. Know your Heavenly Father, and know love.
