WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?

'My life is worth nothing ... unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord' Acts 20:24

You wonder what's up when multi-million recording artists end up overdosed on prescription drugs. Or when footballers who have graced pitches around the world finish their lives drowning in alcohol. Or when stars of the silver screen bring their lives to an end in hotel rooms. It seems you can have it all and at the same time have nothing. Sometimes the things we desire most (fame, money, power) are the things most deadly for us. If you want to make your life count, don't bank your chips at the celebrity roulette table - sign it all over to God instead. Root your life in Him.

D. L. Moody once said, 'Let God have your life; He can do more with it than you can.' Ephesians 1:11 goes further: 'It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, He had His eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose He is working out in everything and everyone.' (TM)

That's the big picture. And it is a big picture! As God's children, we get to build for God's Kingdom. God promises that our brick, whatever it is, will be part of the purpose He is working out in everything and everyone, in all of history. It may not be fame in the world's eyes, but you will truly have success, and treasure in God. So focus on the only profession truly worth giving your attention to - go to Christ, and find out who you are and what you are living for.

What now? What skills or talents has God placed in you to work for His Kingdom? Write them down, and then ask God to do more with your talent than you could imagine doing yourself.

Totally agree, life is meaningless unless working for the Lord. When you lose everything and everyone, what is the meaning of your life. When there is no meaning for your life, you take it. Alot of people live for pleasure or family. These have replaced God.
I lost my family and my life as I knew it, everything and everyone gone, and without God I would have checked out years ago. He has love for me, the fellowship of the believers, and a job for me to do. He supplies my needs. What more could a person ask for? I look forward to heaven some day. What a reward that will be, but until then I need to grow in boldness and finish what is set before me to do, loving God, trusting Him, and see other people saved. Going to hell is no laughing matter as some are inclined to believe. I wish more people could be saved. That is the desire of God's heart, that no one should perish but have everlasting life and if we believe that how could we help not wanting to stay here to do God's work. It is selfish to just want to enter heaven without doing a thing for the Lord, just escaping the flames.
