We all matter (1)
'God has carefully placed each part of the body right where He wanted it.' 1 Corinthians 12:18
Adverts, magazines, billboards, TV... They tell us we're not thin enough, healthy enough, fit enough, tall enough, clever enough, rich enough, famous enough, talented enough! In short they tell us over and over that we're not good enough, but we could be if... we bought this, did that, went there!
They can leave us feeling bottom of the heap, misfits, unacceptable, useless. Listen to God instead. He made you, He knows all about you. Psalm 139:13-14 tells us; 'Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb... Body and soul, I am marvellously made!' (TM) Know you matter.
The Bible tells us, 'Each of us is now a part of His resurrection body ... The old labels we once used to identify ourselves ... are no longer useful ... all this makes you more significant, not less. A body isn't just a single part blown up into something huge. It's all the different-but-similar parts arranged and functioning together... If the body was all eye, how could it hear? If all ear, how could it smell? As it is, we see that God has carefully placed each part of the body right where He wanted it...What we have is one body with many parts, each its proper size and in its proper place (1 Cor. 12:13-19 TM). We each have value just as we are and God has given us gifts and a special purpose so that the body of Christ will function properly.
