'We become more and more like Him' 2 Corinthians 3:18

When we're growing up, we all have our own ideas of who we want to be, how we want to dress, what we want to do. We form our own opinions and they're the ones that matter, we want to be our own person. It's never music to our ears when we hear, 'Ooh, you look just like your mum' from your Auntie Ethel, and 'Oh, you sound just like dad' from your Granddad Tom.

Yeah, sometimes we want to dress like our friends, and follow the latest trends, copy styles, but it's our choice right? We're still our own person!

When we read in the Bible that 'we should become more like Him' - like Jesus - it can freak us out. It's not about growing a beard, moving to Israel and wearing a dress (makes your school uniform suddenly sound very appealing!) And there's no need for that panic attack thinking all Christians are supposed to all become clones of one another (imagine church services looking more like scenes from Shaun of the Dead!)

God's talking about Character Building not Christian Cloning when He says, 'Take on an entirely new way of life - a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces His character in you' (Eph. 4:22-24 TM). Make this your No.1 priority this year!

So what you're saying is that we can still be ourselves and be like Christ? When I picture Christ, I picture perfection. I can't compete with that. No one can. A couple Christians have told me "to let Christ 'take over' your body so you may do what he does." I understand that it is good to have a Christ-like disposition, but how can I do that and NOT become a "Christian Clone" as you said?
Can you elaborate a bit more, please?

God bless the New Year!

Maybe part 2 today will help you some more.

It is not written by me i just post it here to encourage others.

God bless.
