Unyielding For God
'Blessed is the man ... whose confidence is in [God]' Jeremiah 17:7
Remember Jesus on tour of His hometown? There was no champagne reception or 'welcome home' banners strung around the place. His childhood neighbours sneered, 'Isn't this the carpenter's son?' (Matt. 13:55 NIV). They might as well have spat in his tea and scoffed, 'Who do you think you are?' In their heads Jesus should get back to hammers and chisels and stop with this 'ministry' malarkey.
Have you ever been there? God has done a beautiful work in you and all people can say is 'Who do you think you are?' Next time, tell them straight, 'It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.
Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, He had His eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose He is working out in everything and everyone' (Eph. 1:11 TM).
Don't let other people's opinions and expectations shackle your feet. 'Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.' Only one opinion matters: God's. And He's already given you the seal of approval. 'God's strong hand is on you; He'll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; He is most careful with you' (1 Pet. 5:6-7 TM).
With God shouting your corner you're capable of writing history, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
