Transformers (1)
'...Let God transform you into a new person...' Romans 12:2
Have you seen any of the Transformers movies or TV series? If you have, I imagine you'll have noticed that Transformers, as the name suggests, transform. No matter where they are, they are willing and ready to transform as and when needed, at any given moment.
God talks about the importance of always being ready to transform in today's verse: always asking, always available, always willing to 'let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.'
That means 24/7, whether you're alone or in a crowd, at work, school, college, playing sport or hanging out with friends or family, on a date, at the cinema or just walking the dog, we're called to fix our attention on God. Transformation is necessary - we're all prone to 'grace abuse'.
Flick through any popular magazine and you'll see temptations to lust, greed, envy and pride that make sin downright appealing. Like farm pigs we all enjoy a good wallow in the mud! God always wants to bring out the best in you, not allow you to sink in a muddy mess. But He won't take you by force - there's no arm-twisting or kidnapping involved. It's your choice.
When we first get to know Jesus it's just the beginning. When we stay with Jesus we make progress. But when we choose to be transformed by him, that's when we experience success.
