TRANSFORM YOUR HABITS
''...Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed...' ' Daniel 6:10
On the sofa you think, 'Yeah, I've got time for just one more episode of Scrubs.' You motor it to catch the bus that you just miss. Eventually you meet your friend, who through gritted teeth says 'don't worry about it' and you spend the next five minutes trying to walk off your friend's 'hacked off' tension.
Punctuality problem? By their nature, bad habits are low-maintenance and easily picked up. Whether it's too much TV eating up your time, or always being late for things, they can really get in the way of what we want to achieve. Jesus had some subversively God-centred habits. Here are just a few:
1) Giving God the space and time to speak: 'Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed' (Mark 1:35 NIV).
2) Consistent prayer. The disciples might not have always been quick on the uptake but they did notice the connection of Jesus' prayer life with His authority. They wanted to learn from the best: '...Lord, teach us to pray...' (Luke 11:1 NIV).
3) Putting nothing else before God. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.
What now? Watch Jesus' habits transform not just your relationship with God but also every area of your life and peace of mind! Watch Jesus' life in the gospels closely to discover His good habits.
