TOTAL COMMITMENT
'...Then you will receive praise, honour, and renown.' Deuteronomy 26:19
If you had a friend over, you might let them crash on your bedroom floor with a casual disclaimer to 'excuse the mess'. But if the Queen made an unexpected trip and wanted to stay, you might make more of an effort. Everything would be clean and presentable, for starters. In the Old Testament, the priests had to go through a process of consecration, which basically meant that they were separate from everybody else so that they could be used by God.
They were the fine china that only got brought out for guests. There were things they couldn't do, places they couldn't go and food they couldn't eat. Everything mattered. Sounding a bit heavy? If you want to walk in obedience to God, then everything matters. That means life without compartmentalising or compromising. All your body, spirit, talent, time, financial aims, thoughts, actions - the whole package that is you, needs to be God-aligned and have His seal of approval. Commitment comes before any talk of 'praise, honour, and renown,' but if we live committed lives, that too will come to God's people.
What now? Read Matthew 5:48, then 1 John 3:6 then finally Galatians 5:16. What causes you to be weak? Bring those things to God and ask for His love to give you strength.
