TIME'S UP!
''The time has come, He said...'' Mark 1:15
Sometimes it can feel pretty daunting telling people about Jesus, even though we know the gospel's fantastically good news. We zip up our mouths because we feel the responsibility squeezing the life out of us like a straightjacket.
We can feel too small for the job: 'What if I say the wrong thing?' 'What if I put them off?' 'What if talking about God without three years of Bible college theological know-how will actually end up putting them off Jesus?' That's a load of tosh! The gospel should be shared as simply as possible.
Giving someone a load of Christianese using words like 'blood-washed' and 'sanctification' is probably just gonna go over their heads anyway! Evangelism isn't a project or a task, it should just be a natural extension of your relationship with God.
What do you do when something great has happened in your life? You tell someone! Most importantly, take off the stifling puffa-jacket of responsibility and give it back to God!
It's God's Holy Spirit that convicts someone's heart of its need for God. He's the Saviour, not us. Jesus' delivery style went like this: 'Time's up! God's kingdom is here. Change your life and believe the Message' (Mark 1: 15, TM)
God wants to use your style! Just be yourself! What now? Do you have any friends or family who don't know why you follow God? Have a think about how you might let them know, without making it a task or a project!
