THE HARDEST NUT TO CRACK
''...We are God's children'' Romans 8:16
Relatives can sometimes be the hardest nut to crack. We can often get on really well with all sorts of people when it suits us, but the people who are the biggest challenge are often the people closest to us.
And the Bible talks about all of us being God's kids. So by default, that means that if you're a Christian, then you've got a whole load of brothers and sisters, aunties and uncles, mums and dads and other folk who you're related to (whether you like it or not!) If you don't want to end up a Billy no-mates, learning to get on with people is crucial.
Everyone knows you won't do this all of the time. But that doesn't mean it's okay to not bother. But God says, 'Don't hit back; discover beauty in everyone. If you've got it in you, get along with everybody.
Don't insist on getting even; that's not for you to do. "I'll do the judging," says God. "I'll take care of it." (Romans 12:18 TM) 'Well that's easy for you to say God, you're Perfect,' you might say. God knows everything we struggle with but He doesn't just leave us with the command and say 'See ya later!' He offers us His power to actually make peaceful relationships a reality.
What now? Spend time praying for someone who you don't naturally get on with. What practical way could you then show love to them?
