The Big Picture
'He controls my destiny' Job 23:14
Do you ever think, 'Sometimes, God, you just don't know what you're doing'? It seems perfectly obvious to you, because from where you're standing it looks like God really hasn't got a clue about you, your family, your friends, your neighbourhood, your country, even the world in which you live. Because you think, 'If you did know what you were doing, God, then none of us would be in this mess would we?' If you're thinking the only reason God doesn't fix things must be because He can't, and the only reason He doesn't sort things out is because He doesn't know how to, then it's about time to take a look at the bigger picture.
For example, if you think you're having a bad day, read the book of Job. That man had it tough, but as bad as it gets, Job keeps on trusting God: 'He will do to me whatever He has planned. He controls my destiny.' Job saw the bigger picture.
If you have been on a plane you will notice how different things look from up there in the sky than down here on the ground - very different in fact!
In Isaiah 55:8, God says, 'My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts ... and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.' God always sees and understands more than we do so we can trust Him. If you are finding life tough to understand right now, rather than blame God, ask Him to help you to see the bigger picture!
