Super Power
'Encourage him' Deuteronomy 1:38
Did you ever dream of being a superhero? Come on admit it! Did you ever spend hours designing your outfit and choosing your super power? Well, you might not think of yourself like The Incredibles or X Men but God has given you a super power already. Really!
Right now, today, you have the super power to give courage to everyone you meet - mint or what? All you need to do is start encouraging people. It's weird isn't it - if someone naffs us off, we want to go in all guns blazing (and often do!)
But when someone is really kind and goes out of their way for us, we're not usually so quick to rush in to say 'thank you'. Even random strangers can get a mouthful off us if they look at us the wrong way but the random stranger who's nice and friendly towards us, we hardly notice.
It seems offering them a word of encouragement is just a big 'no-no'! Encouragement means 'to give courage'. God told Moses to encourage Joshua, because He knew by doing so, Moses would give Joshua the courage he needed to be the next leader of the Israelite people.
When we encourage people we can make people feel big when they're feeling small, we can make people feel hopeful when they have failed. We can give people the power to keep on going when they've been feeling like giving up. Be a superhero and use your God-given super power - encourage!
