''...Rise and go; your faith has made you well'' Luke 17:19
Let's look again at the ten lepers Jesus healed. Flesh is falling from their bones and yet what does Jesus do? Magic up some special kind of medicine? Snap his fingers and, voila, skin velvety as a new born? Nope. Jesus sends them walking. There is no on-the-spot miracle for these lepers. He asks them to walk in faith.
Imagine as they head to the temple to show the priests that they've been cured. At first maybe there was a bit of hesitation - 'But we're not even cured!' But the further they walked, the better their bodies became. Picture the scene as toes popped out of rotten stubs, fingers forced their way back onto empty hands, wounds and sores grew extra layers of smooth skin. Can't you just hear these ex-lepers laughing all the way to the temple?
Sometimes before God will do the miraculous, He'll ask you to do the ridiculous. When God tells you something, best step on it. 'And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed' (v.14 NKJ). Note the words, 'as they went.'
The Bible says, 'The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord...' (Psalm 37:23 NKJ). Whether it's healing, direction, forgiveness, or whatever you need, these lepers remind us to keep walking in faith. Maybe God doesn't want to snap His fingers over your problem; maybe He's asking you to carry on walking. Maybe the walk is the way to your wholeness.
