Step On It (1)

''...Rise and go; your faith has made you well'' Luke 17:19

I could never do that, I'd be too embarrassed. What if they think I'm stupid? Who am I anyway? Whatever reason you choose for not doing what God asks just doesn't cut it.

God didn't ask Moses, a man with a proven stutter, to speak up for his people because He enjoyed seeing the old guy go red-faced. He'd appointed Moses the job of 'rescuer' before time began.

Likewise, God isn't prompting you to tell your mate about Jesus because He wants you talked down by the in crowd. He knows only you can cut the mustard with your mate. If you've heard from God, now is the time to step on it.

There is a story in 2 Kings 5: 1-19 about Naaman, a top bod in the Syrian army. He has plenty of muscle, and oozes respect. But Naaman has leprosy. He eventually puts all his hopes in Elisha for a miracle healing, but when God's prophet doesn't wave a magic wand over his shocking skin, he throws a diva fit: 'If it was a wash I came for, I could've picked baths better than your Jewish sewers' he implies. He doesn't act upon God's Word, so he doesn't get his healing.

Later, his servant is doing the old 'Count to ten and breathe deeply' thing, when they suggest there could be something in bathing in the Jordan. Namaan this time sees sense, acts upon the Word of God, and hey presto - he gets skin as smooth as a teenage heart-throb. Lesson: When God speaks, act!
