Sitting On The Fence (1)
'Like an ocean wave tossed around in a storm' James 1:6
From the top of the hill the hard-talking warrior can be seen by all. His dry, rasping voice carries through the valley, bouncing off stones straight into the hearts of men, women and children. Some of these men have lost brothers, some of the women sons in these bloodthirsty wars.
But nobody has quite showed the bravery of Joshua. He's fought like a lion protecting its cubs for the future of his people. And now they must decide which way they're going to have it. He urges them to ditch their useless wooden effigies and godless bits of superstitious metal the other side of the river.
'Stop running hot then cold. Worship the living God or put your faith in superstition - but don't insult the heavens by trying to do both. As for me and my family, we will worship God', Joshua concludes and the crowds growl in agreement.
Do you have one foot in God's side of the fence and another in your own back garden?
Chances are you feel down more than up. You feel frustrated at your lot in life. You go round in circles chasing your tail. Your life stops and starts. Unless you choose to follow God wholeheartedly like Joshua you're going to experience life like a wave tossed around in a storm. Don't be full of religious sales talk - live like you believe God is God.
