SHIFT YOUR FOCUS
'... May I never forget the good things He does for me.' Psalms 103:2
Do you feel the world owes you something? Do you walk around like Victor Meldrew (from TV sitcom One Foot in the Grave) moaning 'I don't believe it' about everything? Do you live your life thinking 'if only'? 'If only I had this, if only I could do that, if only I wasn't born here, if only that didn't happen to me?' Are you grumbling your way through life and feeling hard done by?
Did you know if you close one eye and hold a penny close enough to your other eye you can block out the light of the sun? The sunshine doesn't disappear, we just can't see it, all we can see is the dark face of the penny. When you feel like life only serves you misery, it's time to shift your focus!
Lamentations 3:22-23 is the focus shift in a book of deep pain. 'The Lord's love never ends; His mercies never stop. They are new every morning; Lord, your loyalty is great.' Focus on all the good things God gives you every day; 'may I never forget the good things He does for me.'
What now? Change your computer password or the welcome message on your mobile to 'Praise the Lord' or something similar - to help shift your focus to an attitude of gratitude.
