SHARE THE DREAM (1)
''...Be of one mind, united in thought and purpose'' 1 Corinthians 1:10
'I have a dream!' These words have been made famous by Martin Luther King, Abba and even Westlife. Dreams are important to us, after all, 'who hopes for what he already has.' (Romans 8:24 NIV)
But simply having a dream doesn't convert it in to reality. Dragon's Den may not be calling, but if we don't consider how we can share our dreams with other people, you might find yourself chomping on a big bar of regret by the time you hit retirement. So let's think about some practical basics:
1) Have you thought it through? Bursting into your pastor's office with all your mates jumping on your back shouting, 'Ahh, go on' like Mrs Doyle off Father Ted, probably won't sway it for him. Until they believe you've thought it all through, you won't get far. Have you proven yourself to this person that you can stick things out when the going gets tough? Don't kid yourself that because they're a Christian they're bound to say yes.
2) Do you have a plan in place to make it happen? Or are there more unanswered questions than answered? You may be able to recite the whole of Philippians but are you up to the job? Start ticking these boxes and you're well on your way to living the dream!
What now? What are your dreams? Read the first part of Joseph's story in Genesis 37:1-11. Spend time praying about your hopes and dreams.
