As human beings, we have a problem. That problem is this: there is a God. God is good, God is in control, God desires to be in a relationship with us. But - and it's a big but - if we're not properly sorted in that relationship with God, we're in big trouble! That's because we all do wrong and fall short of God. We sin. Some sins, yes, are bigger, and some are smaller. But a fall from God, whether it's a big fall or a small fall, is a fall from the highest height in the universe.
We've hit rock bottom, all of us - no matter how good we think we are. That's the state of humanity, and it ain't pretty. We're scrabbling in the dirt, desperately or apathetically living our lives without God. So where do we go from here? There is a way back. To scale the height we've fallen takes more than the most colossal effort humanity can muster up. It would take a human being with more than just a good track record. The question answered by Christianity is, 'what if such a man existed?' 'This is how much God loved the world: He gave His Son, His one and only Son ... so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
God didn't go to all the trouble of sending His Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.' (John 3:16 TM) A friend of ours at W4UHQ tweeted recently, "Jesus came not to rub it in, but to rub it out."
What now? You have a problem. But. You are forgiven. Jesus' offer is right off the "too good to be true" scale, but it needs a response from you to make it real in your life. Have you let Him sort your problem yet? Now is the time.
