'When you are tempted, He will show you a way out' 1 Corinthians 10:13
Excuses, excuses, excuses, we all make them when temptation strikes; we fall for it, get caught and then it's, 'I've been set up officer, honest! He made me do it! I had to do it, I didn't have a choice!'
They say opportunity knocks only once; but temptation leans on the doorbell and often kicks the door down! We don't get tempted because we're evil; we're tempted because we're human. So expect temptation to happen - and learn how to handle it.
Here are three things God wants you to know about temptation:
1) 'The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience.' So don't kid yourself that you're different from anyone else, or that your situation makes it more difficult for you. We're all in the same boat, if one person can resist - so can you.
2) 'God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand.' So don't fool yourself in believing that it was too hard and you had to bail under the weight of it. God never goes back on His promises; if He says you can resist it - you can.
3) 'When you are tempted, He will show you a way out.' So refuse to believe there's no other option. Instead look around, think outside the box, ask God to show you an alternative route. If He says there's another way - there is!
And once God has bolted the door on your temptation, don't go climbing through the window. Run from temptation and don't leave a forwarding address.
