'Earn a reputation for living well in God's eyes' Proverbs 3:4
Did you know that God can help you earn a good reputation? Even when people and events are spiralling against you, God can and will come through for you. All you need to do is, 'Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favour with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation' (Prov. 3: 3-4 TM).
Imagine the poor guy who gets beaten within an inch of his life by his brothers, who then decide to earn a few bob selling him on as a slave. Just when he thinks he's doing ok, he's wrongly accused of raping someone and gets thrown into prison. You can't exactly see him becoming the next Prime Minister can you?
But when God is writing your story anything is possible. The story above is exactly what happened to Joseph. His reputation is in tatters but God totally turns things around. God brings a butler and a baker into Joseph's life and as a result of helping them, Joseph is released from prison to help the Pharaoh understand his crazy dreams. Joseph ends up as Pharaoh's right hand man, ruling all of Egypt.
Talk about building his reputation up from nothing! Keep your mind open and stay sensitive to God, for He will give you favour in the most unusual places and through the most unlikely people.
