Read all about it
'They ... searched the scriptures daily' Acts 17:11
Lads, if you want to grab a girl, just pretend to be the romantic, sensitive type, saying things like, 'Love is like the wild rose-briar ... you can't beat a bit of Emily Bronte, can you, ladies?!' Or girls, if you want to make that guy go weak at the knees, say stuff like, 'If Darth Vader had a fight with Amir Khan - who'd win?'
Actually, learning one line of romantic poetry doesn't make you Casanova; nor does naming one boxer make you the dream girlfriend.
Equally, paying lip service to God's Word without acting on it will not grow you in God. Anybody can learn a clever sentence or rattle off John 3:16 to sound holy, but making the noise of a Christian and standing out from the crowd like a Christian are two different things
. Acts says that the early Christians searched the scriptures daily. What if they'd all had good intentions to read their Bibles but never quite got around to it? How would the apostles have got on then? Stephen would have been lost for words in Acts 7; Peter's heroic talks to the crowds would've fallen flat, and Paul's letters to the churches would've been at best cute penpal letters. These guys left a legacy that still stands today because they knew their scriptures inside out. They lived out their Bible. How long have you been talking about reading your Bible?
