RAHAB'S STORY (1)
''It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute was not destroyed...' ' Hebrews 11:31
'I wasn't brought up to believe in this "one true God" business. It's always sounded pompous, narrow minded, unreal. I'd rather have my gods simple and clear-cut. Take our moon god for example. Straightforward chap. You can see him and there's no denying the effects he has. A real god should be around to be worshipped, both there for all to see and mysteriously out of reach. But look where those beliefs got us!
Trapped within our own city, in fear of our lives... whilst those guys out there... I can smell their confidence and feel the power they have in their one true God... maybe, just maybe, it's time to change...' Living in the city of Jericho thousands of years ago was Rahab, a prostitute. Fast approaching was Joshua, preparing to lead all of God's people, under God's instructions, to demolish the city.
Was it staring death in the face that caused Rahab to rethink her beliefs? Was it the stories she heard about what God was doing or meeting followers of God for the first time that caused Rahab to recognise she needed to change her thinking?
Whatever the reason, Rahab didn't just change her mind, she acted upon it. She chose to live differently and put her faith completely in the one true God. What about you? What now? Have you got a big question that stops you living for God? Take time out today to talk about it to God and seek out an answer.
