Peace of Mind
'You will keep him in perfect peace' Isaiah 26:3
Selwyn Hughes once opened a prayer with this: 'O God, what a fool I am to live with a grudge when I can live with grace. If there are any grudges in my heart then I ask you to uproot them now'.
He's right. Aren't we fools to get all tied up in knots, when we could live in perfect peace? Sometimes we can hold a grudge against people. Certain people have an amazing talent for rubbing others up the wrong way. What they say, what they do, how they do it - it just leaves you yanking the roots of your hair from your head.
Well, the choice is yours: either hold on to that bitter feeling and get all twisted up in knots or allow God to deal with them and be released to peace. Sometimes we can even hold a grudge against God. Maybe we've waited years for God to move on something in our lives but here we are - still empty-handed.
Having a God-sized chip on your shoulder won't force God's hand. The Almighty sees past our emotional blackmail techniques. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, 'There is a time for everything.'(NIV) God will come good on His promise - at the right time. Meanwhile, you can either sulk with a turned-down bottom lip, or wait, trust and praise in perfect peace. Bottom line: fix your thoughts on God and peace will follow.
