NO ONE'S A SUPER CHRISTIAN
''Your words ... were my joy and my heart's delight...'' Jeremiah 15:16
Someone who says, 'If you really love God and walk according to His Word you will never get depressed,' has clearly never read the Scriptures and never been depressed!
Elijah called down fire from heaven in a spectacular victory, yet he became so depressed in the aftermath that he wanted to die. '...It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life...' (1Kings 19:4 NKJV). That's a big-time low!
Being a Christian does not mean you've been given an immunisation jab to the viruses of life. When you try to act super-spiritual and allow people to think you never battle in areas like fear, failure, finances, family or feelings, you're living in on another planet!
But when you bring the real you before God, you not only free yourself up for Him to do His work in you, you also show everyone else you're real and no Super-Christian. God knows exactly what you're going through. So let's get real with Him. You are never more effective than when you are transparent.
And Jesus has promised that 'You will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace... Take heart! [He's] conquered the world.' (John 16:33)
What now? Is there a particular issue you're struggling with at the moment? Tell God all about it. Vent. Rant, if you have to. And when you've told Him everything, ask Him what He has to say.
