Mr Fix-it
'The mother of Jesus said ... "They have no wine"' John 2:3
Robert Matthew Van Winkle, better known by his stage name Vanilla Ice, has an interesting claim to fame. His single Ice Ice Baby was the first hip-hop single to reach the top of the UK charts and was memorable for one particular line: 'If there was a problem, yo, I'll solve it.' Now, as great a rapper as he is, I doubt that Mr Ice would arrive to put his words into action if you did have a problem.
Jesus on the other hand (who, to the best of our knowledge, has never rapped) can be relied on to be there to solve any problem we might have; which is so much better. Jesus is our problem solver, our Mr Fix-it.
When problems occur, as they often do, don't panic, don't look for someone to blame, don't make excuses or flip your lid. Let Jesus know and hear Him say, 'I'll solve it'.
No problem is too huge, too small or even too ridiculous for Jesus: His mum asked Him to find more wine for a wedding, so He turned water into the finest merlot. His friend Martha came to Him because her brother had died, so Jesus brought Him back to life again. A crowd of over five thousand people hadn't eaten all day, so Jesus borrowed a boy's packed lunch and fed the lot with it! What's your problem? Let Jesus fix it.
