Mission possible
'... called according to His purpose.' Romans 8:28
'In the same way that you gave me a mission in the world, I give them a mission in the world' (John 17:18 TM). Know who said those words? Know who He was talking about? Yup, you guessed it: Jesus was talking you up for a serious mission.
God started a major bit of reconstruction work in the world with the mission of Jesus and now He wants you in on the job. Your mission is two-fold: to lend support to other Jesus followers and to make Jesus known for His non-followers. Here are some things to be aware of to help you:
1) Look within you. What moves you? What are you excited about? Paul said, 'I am compelled to preach' (1 Cor. 9:16 NIV). Maybe opening your gob in front of tonnes of people turns your y-fronts brown, but there'll be something that you feel compelled to do. Answer that and you have a good clue for your mission.
2) Look behind you. What has life taught you? Your experiences could be the key to helping others. If you know what it feels like to feel alone and unwanted, part of your mission will be to get alongside others who are going through the same and show them love and acceptance.
3) Look ahead of you. Where everybody else is blind, what do you see? Your mission is to say something with your life.
