'No matter what I say ... I'm bankrupt without love' 1 Corinthians 13:3
Who wants to be 'a nothing, go nowhere or sound like a creaking rusty gate?' No one right? Well according to 1 Corinthians 13, it's something that could happen to any of us if we don't get our act together.
This year in Big Brother, 29-year-old Corin from Manchester, annoyed her fellow housemates with her incessant chatter, constantly piping up, 'I'm luvinit, I'm buzzin' me!' The other housemates joked that she always said it, no matter what she was doing - whether it was simply making a cup of tea, fixing her hair extensions or in the middle of an ambitious task dressing up in some silly costume, Corin was always 'luvinit!'
If we want to avoid being 'a nothing, going nowhere in life' then we need to start 'luvinit' too - whether standing waiting for a bus to the excitement of nights out with friends. Now that doesn't mean annoying everyone around you by spouting out 'I'm luvinit' non-stop, Corin-style.
But it does mean constantly having a heart attitude that is always focusing on love. You could be, to quote Mary Poppins, 'Practically perfect in every way!' But the Bible says that you are, 'bankrupt without love'. You've got zilch, your life's pointless without it. Remember, 'we have three things to do... Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.' (v.13, TM)
