Limping Your Way Through
'The socket of Jacob's thigh was out of joint...' Genesis 32:25
The Bible doesn't have too many stories of squeaky clean people with superhero strength and nobility, perfecto specimens of all things manly and womanly used to fulfil all of God's purposes on planet Earth. Neither does the New Testament look like the adventures of Jesus and the twelve Gummy Bears!
Nope, the Bible is about regular Waynes and Waynettas like you and me. In fact God's preference seems to be to use the least likely people, the kinds of people who would be deemed least worthy by human standards.
And guess what? He still does. The truth is it's not about us; it's about Him. It's not about what we have done and can do; it's about what God has done and what He can do through us.
It can be hard feeling totally out of your depth at something. Maybe you feel like you're struggling through a task or situation like Jacob trying to walk with his dodgy hip. God often uses difficult situations and difficult people to grow us and make us rely on Him.
So instead of immersing yourself in a headspace of how unfair, rubbish or inadequate a situation feels, take the time to think about what God is trying to teach you through it.
Here's some really great news: we don't have to struggle on in our own strength and capabilities. God says, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness' (2 Cor. 12:9 NKJ).
