Lessons From The Liberator

'God has appointed ... teachers' 1 Corinthians 12:28

So what do you remember teachers for? Their world record breaking coffee-breath? Their talent for steaming at the ears over one forgotten PE kit? Their gift of hypnotising you to sleep through passive boredom? Hopefully you'll have had at least one good teacher growing up.

The best teachers seem to have an effortless knack of drawing you in to their world. They don't so much as pass on information as make it come to life. They have the power to inspire and motivate. They help you see the planet at an entire new tilt.

Take Jesus. This young, magnetic teacher has the skill to make fishermen put down their nets and walk away from their jobs for unpaid employment. This fascinating teacher can bring a whole working city to a standstill just to hear one of his lectures. This compelling teacher can still draw millions of people around the globe to hear his teachings on a Sunday two thousand years after He first taught them.

Real teaching doesn't stay in a textbook - it writes itself into the lives of its students. Jesus taught about justice and so William Wilberforce determined to abolish the slave trade.

Jesus taught about poverty and so William Booth opened hostels, hospitals, schools and soup kitchens.

Jesus taught wherever He went and so John Wesley covered over eight thousand miles a year by horseback in order to preach. Take a class from history's most inspirational teacher and then write His lessons into the world around you.
