Kingdom First (1)

'Seek the kingdom of God above all else' Matthew 6:33

You know when you read a word over and over (and over and over again) it begins to lose its meaning? It can be the same with God's Word. We study it over and over (and over and over again) until we lose what it's really saying to us. Like, 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done' (Matt. 6:9-10 NIV). We've repeated those words so many times parrot-fashion that we've somehow lost what they mean. We rattle them off like some kind of spiritual superstitious good luck charm without stopping to think about the meaning.

If we're really serious about God's kingdom coming, and His will be done, then we give God permission to have His way in our lives. Did you get that? His way - not ours. When God says stop, we stop. When God says go, we go. 'Merely hearing God's law is a waste of your time if you don't do what He commands. Doing, not hearing, is what makes the difference with God' (Rom. 2:13 TM).

So when God says we should love our enemies, what do we do? Deconstruct it as a line of poetry or actually do it? Actively care for our rivals? When Jesus tells us to give a gift to those in need, what do we do? Nod along in agreement to this lofty ideal, or do we actually hit our pockets where it hurts and bless the poor?

Personal feelings

Please forgive me for the small font size, I couldn't enlarge it, so please forgive me for this bad font.

Well, personally I have strong feelings towards God's word, and I love to mention it always, I don't feel like it's losing it's meaning at all, so I don't ever lose my anxiety about his word, it's like honey to me, I never get enough, and I love to remember it all the time like it's written in saint Jeremiah book chapter 15 verse 16
Your words were found, and I ate them; and your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by your name, Yahweh, God of Armies

In dark times, it's only his words comfort me, nothing else, neither the people, nor the world news, nothing but his words that I memorize some of it.

For me it's a matter of feelings, like a son never gets bored of his father's stories and songs, I love his psalms, his song of songs, his Bibles, every single word he said, without they lose their meanings.

But I also try as much as I can to serve him with love according to his great word, because since I know, I must do his will, like it's written in saint Mathew book chapter 7 verse 21

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

So I must not only repeat his words and taste it in happiness because it's honey indeed, but also do his Holy will, that is what I love to do.

I don't personally think you need to do something inorder to get to heaven. Eph 2:8 - 10 But the service part comes from knowing Lord first. 2Pe 1:8

I agree both to jari and ladylovesjesus..

Faith AND action, I think must never be apart

James 2:26

Faith, I think has a broad meaning. If you have a total faith in God (which I do not have), you believe that Jesus can save your soul..IF you will surrender your worldly happiness to Him and follow his lead.

...aside from that, you believe that your descendants will be like the stars in the sky IF you will live first in the wilderness and leave your comfortable life in a stable place (Abraham); you believe that your sickness can be cured IF you will bathe yourself in the Jordan river (Naaman).

I can't site more samples, but I think there are endless lists though.

I believe Jesus accepts you as you are and puts a new heart in you...

2Co 5:17

But the old self is there:

Eph 4:22
