K.I.S.S.
'Forgiveness ... in accordance with the riches of ... grace' Ephesians 1:7
If you speak to anyone who has done some sales training they'll tell you that one of the first things they learn is the phrase 'K.I.S.S.'. It means 'Keep It Simple, Stupid' and it's a reminder to deliver every sales presentation in such a simple way that the listener understands straight away.
Sometimes we can overcomplicate the things God says to us too. The verse today is about how much God lavishly loves and forgives us. God tells us His love and forgiveness is unconditional - that we don't get it because we earn it or deserve it, but because He chooses to pile it on us by the bucket load. But He also tells us He wants us to do the same to others. This is where it an get a little more complicated.
It's easy to accept God's forgiveness for ourselves, but nowhere near as easy to give it to others. Love and forgive those who don't deserve it? Those we don't like very much? Strangers? Those we've already given 10 chances too? But that doesn't seem fair! It doesn't seem right! You see, we make it complicated.
At times like this we need to hear God whispering in our ear, 'Keep It Simple Stupid!' When we overcomplicate the simplest of instructions from God it makes a mess of our lives.
Nothing fits right, relationships break down, life gets more hassled and less enjoyable. By making God's love complicated, we miss out on it and make others miss out on it too. So, every day remember to K.I.S.S!
