Is That All?
'...With the heart one believes unto righteousness...' Romans 10:10
'If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved' (Romans 10:9-10 NLT).
Is that it? Yes! Believing in your heart that Jesus died for you to make you right with God and confessing that out loud equals one glorious badge of salvation. Actually, it's better than a badge - we are made new! 'Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!' (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV)
That sounds amazing but my life so far doesn't exactly look like something drawn up by Walt Disney. You don't know what I've done! I don't believe I could ever be righteous before God.
That's why the gospel's called good news! Jesus died for every sin imaginable! The good news doesn't come with small print or exceptions. God's not like a Facebook user that accepts or declines requests! He accepts every time! 'One man, Jesus Christ, took on the sin of the world'. That includes yours!
'...Neither the present nor the future ... nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus...' (Romans 8:38-39 NIV).
