In the Worship Zone
'God is spirit, and His worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth' John 4:24
If you watch those shopping channels, you'll hear the phrase 'body, soul and spirit' a lot. But this is actually our contemporary culture's reversal of the way the Bible sees us. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 tells us that we are spirit, soul and body (look it up!).
Therefore, we're not simply bodies, occasionally having spiritual experiences, but are whole beings having all of these experiences. The life force within you came from God, who is Spirit. When we worship our Maker, it's like going back to our origins and reconnecting with our Maker. It's the very purpose of our existence - the thing we were created to do.
Let's consider some of the amazing things that happen in worship:
1) Our deepest thirst is quenched.
2) Our wounds are healed.
3) Our strength is renewed.
4) We're placed beyond the reach of our enemy.
Matt Redman is one of our generation's most celebrated worship leaders and rightly so, having helped people get in to the worship zone for years. King David had the same DNA.
You may not be able to download David's latest songs directly from iTunes but his worship material has been connecting people to God for centuries (they're called the Psalms and you'll find them in every copy of the Bible, worldwide). They both understood you don't need to go to a worship event to worship God - but that our whole lives are about worshipping God.
