I Have The Power!
'Love cannot be drowned by oceans or floods' Song of Solomon 8:7
We've all seen the horrific devastation a tsunami brings. Sadly, on news reports we've watched how a picture-perfect coastal town can be swept away under the force of an ocean wall; homes, businesses, lives destroyed. Water is a powerful force with the ability to be so gentle young children can freely play in it or so strong it wounds, maims, and breaks anything that stands in its way.
However the Bible talks of another force that has such diverse extremes but on a much larger scale. It's far superior not only because its gentleness and strength is so much greater but because its depth and extremes bring only wholeness and completeness to any individual in any situation.
At its strongest it builds up, and never tears down. At its most powerful it heals, and never hurts. It is unbelievably tender, real and fully reliable. Amazingly this power source is available to all - will you accept it? Will you use it?
This force is love, so strong it 'cannot be drowned by oceans or floods.' In a world where so many negative forces are at work it is possible to feel unloved and unlovable. Know today that God is here and He loves you.
As St Augustine wrote, 'He loves each one of us as if there were only one of us.' In a world that can be difficult and relationships damaging, use love. God's love is so powerful it changes any situation for any individual for the better.
