Happy Thoughts
'Your leader will break out ... He will bring you through' Micah 2:13
What do you think about when you're not thinking about anything? What goes through your mind before you fall asleep? Where does your mind focus when you wake up? What do you think about when you get some 'head space'? Your thoughts reflect your character and reveal what you're most passionate about.
One character in the ancient TV sitcom 'Bread' would speak thoughts of doom most episodes: 'My life is hanging by a thread!' His mind appeared consumed with thinking the worst, that every day was a tragedy waiting to happen. In his mind he had a noose around his neck and any moment the platform under him would be taken away and he'd be gone.
Then there's the villains of the Batman movies - like the Joker or the Penguin, their minds consumed daily with dastardly deeds.
The Bible lets us know that negative thinking produces a negative result which is why we're encouraged in Philippians 4:8 to, 'Fix your thoughts on what is true and honourable and right. Think about things that are pure lovely and admirable ... excellent and worthy of praise' (NLT).
This is easier said than done when your situation sends ample supplies to your brain for a 24/7 worry party or your circumstances give your creative juices extra resourceful ideas of 'payback time' nastiness.
Colossians 3:2 says; 'Let heaven fill your thoughts.' When we become passionate about things of God He promises to set us straight. 'Your leader will break out ... He we bring you through ... Your King will lead you; the Lord himself will guide you.'
