GROUND CONTROL

'The Lord God put the man in the Garden ... to take care of it and to look after it' Genesis 2:15

If you're still living with your family, how do you treat your home? Do you think drop your mucky trainers in the kitchen, tip your dirty washing on the bathroom floor and leave ten mouldy mugs under your bed?

What about the people whose house it is - the ones who've made it a home and allowed you to live there? It's only fair you look after the place, right?

Psalm 8:6-8 says God 'gave [us] charge of everything [He] made, putting all things under [their] authority ... the flocks ... herds ... all the wild animals ... birds ... fish ... everything.' Does that mean we can treat it however we like?

Trash the place, leave it wrecked, broken and desolate? No, when God made us, He gave us the earth 'to take care of it and to look after it.' Are you doing what you can to keep God's place tidy? We're not talking tree-hugging here, but there are plenty of things we can all do to make this world a better place.

Like recycling your rubbish, buying the Big Issue to help with homelessness, sponsoring a child in a third world country, logging on to hopeforjustice.org.uk and seeing what you can do to help end human trafficking, for instance. Will you look after what God has given you?

What now? To help keep this idea in the front of your mind, tidy up today! Help out around the house without being asked or looking for thanks.
