'Someone of integrity won't violate a confidence' Proverbs 11:13
'Embarrassing Bodies' is a strange piece of television viewing. The programme works on the premise that Antony from Newcastle is too embarrassed to show his gangrene wobbly bit of flesh to his local GP but will happily parade it in front of six million viewers sitting down to their Findus Crispy Pancakes. Has Antony not worked out that the man pointing the camera at his backside is betraying his confidence?
Sometimes we carry the 'Embarrassing Bodies' syndrome around with us. A mate comes to us with a bit of a sensitive issue but instead of providing a warm shoulder to cry on, we transmit it via the GBC (Gossip Broadcasting Corporation). Proverbs 11:13 says, 'A gadabout gossip can't be trusted with a secret, but someone of integrity won't violate a confidence' (TM).
There's a severe shortage of people who can keep their gobs zipped but the ones who can, live by these ground rules:
1) Talk is cheap unless it's prayer. Instead of chin-wagging the juicy stuff on your free minutes, take the sensitive issue to God and hold your mate up in prayer.
2) Judge not. Who needs to hear your take-of-the-story anyway? Your friend doesn't need you going all Judgmental Judy on her. She just wants someone who'll listen.
3) Be aware. God promises how you handle others determines how He handles you.
