God guaranteed
'I will remember my covenant' Genesis 9:15
We get so carried away with the Dr Doolittle aspect of the Noah story, we overlook the happy ending. After the flood proclaimed God's verdict on wickedness, a rainbow was painted across the sky as a promise that never again would a deluge devastate the entire world. God says to Noah, 'I will remember my covenant which is between me and you'.
God remembers all the promises He's spoken to you too. Perhaps you were once convinced God had given you a word but now you doubt it. You've little evidence to see that promise coming true. Well, God isn't some wheeler-dealer who'll fob you off with 'the cheque's in the post, son'. Hebrews 10:23 says, 'Let's keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. God always keeps His word'.
Life has a nasty habit of trying to contradict God's promises. One minute you're on a high from God's Word; the next life will spring something on you which is completely in opposite of what you heard. Often, this is a case of 'if you want to see the rainbow you have to put up with the rain'. The pain of hard times causes a passion to lean more on God, which provides an opening for more blessing. So, if you've scrunched up your promise into a paper ball, remember 'Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the Yes of Jesus' (2 Cor. 1:20 TM).
