EXTRAORDINARY LIVING (1)
'...Carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith...' Jude 1:20
If you're intentional about it, your faith will grow. If you're lazy, it won't! It's that simple. Like a river erodes a riverbank, your faith can wear away just from living every day. If you don't do anything to secure and strengthen your faith it will begin to deteriorate - and you can count on that!
Hebrews 11:6 NIV tells us that, 'Without faith it is impossible to please God' so living by faith needs to be the top of our daily agenda. 'Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see' (Hebrews 11:1 NIV)
It's being God-confident - relying on God to guide you through life. Henry Blackaby wrote: 'The kind of assignments God gives in the Bible are always God-sized. They are always beyond what people can do, because He wants to demonstrate His nature, His strength, His provision and His kindness to His people and to a watching world. That is the only way the world will come to know Him.'
God wants us to do things for Him that we can only do with His help, because only then will we experience God at work in our lives, only then will people see how great God is. Live by faith, take on God-sized jobs and God-sized challenges - do something that you can only accomplish with God's help.
What now? What extraordinary thing could you do today, where you need to totally rely on God's help in order to do it? It could be small or big.
