Enjoy The Journey
'I'm not saying that ... I have it made' Philippians 3:12
What matters most to you right now? Top exam results - anything below an A* is not acceptable? Having that dream car, dream job, supermodel hotty or hunk of the year? Do you go ape if your makeup gets smudged or a hair falls out of place or that cushion on the sofa just isn't plumped quite right? If you are it sounds like you could be suffering from perfectionitis.
The world tells us we have to be the best and have the best, so we pressure ourselves chasing after perfection - and are often left with a big F for Failure! Pressure yourself into the world's idea of perfection and you're going to miss out on living!
Think about it, for most things in life there is a perfect standard to aim for... from how we treat waiters, shop assistants, strangers or your family; to how you use your money, time or words; to how compassionate, understanding, supportive or hardworking you are. But give yourself a break. Paul said, 'I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection!
But I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be' (NLT). You're not perfect yet, but you will be. So take a chill pill and enjoy the journey. Hand your life over to Jesus and live each day with Him. He'll turn your imperfections into His perfection.
