EASTER - WHAT'S IT ABOUT? (1)
''He has rescued us out of the darkness...'' Colossians 1:13
It might not surprise you that the biggest-selling movie genre is the super-hero genre. Film producers know that super-heroes not only connect with our imaginations but with us on a deeper level. We were designed to have our own personal relationship with the ultimate super-hero, and His name is Jesus Christ.
Before you switch in to autopilot yawning, 'Been there, read that, I'm off to buy an Easter egg!' it's worth considering the most significant event in His story, and history... (His-story... see what we did there) and what it means for us now.
Jesus' death and resurrection is the one thing that makes a relationship with God possible, so jump on board as we consider the top three privileges of a relationship with God:
1) You have been personally rescued from death. All the bad stuff you've ever done was wiped out by Jesus and a right relationship with God is lined up for you.
2) You've been freed from satan's control. The same power that raised Christ from the dead 2,000 years ago is alive in you today to make God smile.
3) You are a child of God! You're now part of God's family, with Jesus as your big brother guiding you through life, as well as a whole load of other brothers and sisters in your family - commonly known as the church.
What now? Spend time thanking Jesus for what the cross means. How about asking God for the guts to share the real reason for Easter with your friends?
