CONTROL FREAK?
''Their loyalty is divided between God and the world...'' James 1:8
'Freak! Freak, did you call me?' Well, the abuse of control is freakish behaviour and it's not what God's looking for. If you've got tendencies to try to control situations or people just to get your own way, there's something wrong.
Ever noticed that the more you try to control, the more anxiety you feel? The Bible says that, 'the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and peace...' (Romans. 8:6 AMP)
It can be tempting to trust your own understanding of things, and take things from there, but God sometimes has different plans. God says, '...The way you work isn't the way I work...' (Isaiah 55:8 TM).
Let the Holy Spirit bring you in line. He may have other plans. While it's true that God wants us to engage our brains, He also wants us to 'live by faith and not by sight'. Want everything signed, sealed, delivered? Learn to be comfortable with the unknown and you can bathe in God's pools of peace.
'Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow...' (Matthew 6:34 TM).
What now? Read Psalm 139 as a prayer focusing on verses 23 and 24, asking your heavenly Father to expose anything He's not happy with. Go to Him asking for His help to change.
