Case Studies in Crashing (1)
''A righteous man may fall seven times and rise again...'' Proverbs 24:16
Big? Big doesn't describe it! Like towers, these guys. Built like the Terminator, every one of them. They've got muscles on their muscles. There is no possible way we could fight them and live to tell the tale. You may as well shoot me here in the desert, because the only promise coming from that Promised Land is one of death and defeat.
The Israelites talked themselves into failure before they even attempted to fight. Only Joshua and Caleb had enough belief that God could help them oust their enemy from their Promised Land. The Israelites scared themselves into submission. The fear of failure was stopping the Israelites entering their destiny.
Don't let fear become your excuse for failure. Don't let things in your mind grow out of proportion. Sure, your challenge may be big - but don't you have a God who is bigger? Don't dwell on the size of the task; dwell on the size of your God.
Philippians 4:8 says it best: '...I'd say you'll do your best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious - the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not to curse.' Don't let fear be the reason for your failure.
