'Be strong and courageous' Deuteronomy 31:6
The Bible's full of stories of God telling people not to be afraid... 'Be courageous! Don't chicken out! Stand firm!' We all come up against situations that make us feel like munching on a wimp sandwich with some wussy fries but that's not God's plan for us.
Sometimes we've got to be courageous about our own potential - and helping other people spot theirs too. We might be familiar with the idea that we are 'fearfully and wonderfully made' with huge amounts of potential packed within us. But it's often only when someone else spots that potential within us and draws it out that we actually start to live out our lives based on this powerful truth.
To make sure that a person's potential doesn't remain under wraps, we've got to be on the look-out for their strengths and God-given giftings. What we say and the words we use creates an environment in which people not only see for themselves that they've got gifts, but also encourages them to grow and develop in them.
Everyone's been implanted with a God-given drive to achieve something and we can play a key part in making that a reality in other people's lives. If you tap into that drive and show you believe in someone's future, then who knows what can happen?
Jesus said, 'With God everything is possible' (Matt. 19:26 NLT). The question is, do we believe it?
