Big is the story of a twelve year old kid catapulted into an adult world. Thanks to a spooky attraction at a funfair Tom Hanks plays a school kid trapped inside a man's body. For the first time in his life he finds himself with a job and more money than he knows what to spend it on. He buys himself giant trampolines and every gadget going, and feasts off milkshakes and squirty cream for tea.
But eventually he's confronted with complex relationships, backstabbing business colleagues and tight work deadlines. The kid realises he's just not ready for life as an adult yet and so his wish propels him back to life as a twelve year old.
Maybe you have a touch of the Tom Hanks yourself. You get a rush of the tingles with your 'significant other' and so you think you're ready for all the physical stuff. Or you think you're old enough to handle a 'cheeky Vimto' now. Or you just wish you could leave school now as, hey, you already know all you need to know, right?
You may be big enough but are you mature enough? If God has planned stuff for you don't be in a head rush to swipe it before its time. 'Wait for it; because it will surely come' (Hab. 2:3).
Are you ready to pay the price? Are you able to pay the price? Stick it out and stay in God's timing.
