'Each part ... helps the other parts grow' Ephesians 4:16
Mates, pals, chums, buddies, amigos, allies, your BFF, soul mate, kindred spirit - friends. When cutting up your cake of life this is one of the biggest slices of all.
They make you laugh, they keep you sane and they help you pick up the pieces when it all goes wrong. Unlike your family, who were dumped on you at birth, you get to choose your mates, and hopefully you've made some good choices along the way.
But what do you do when your friends go AWOL on you? Going off on a not so good idea, they come to you, their loyal friend, to back them up that the mankini is the beach look for them; or they head for the pathway of doom asking you, their BFF, to support them in their chosen career of the ridiculous?
Do you just smile in agreement because you don't want to upset them? Leave them to make fools of themselves because it's their life they're ruining, not yours?
The Bible talks about God wanting us to work together to bring out the best in each other, 'As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.'
Are you brave enough to be honest with your friends to help them make good choices? They say the best vitamin for developing friends is B1. Will you be one - the kind of friend who always brings out the best in others?
