Becoming God's Friend (3)
'I have called you friends' John 15:15
We all want friends. They're an important part of our life. Yes, friends may make us mad sometimes, but we still wouldn't be without them, would we? A friend is someone we know, we like and we trust. But friendship doesn't just happen over night; you have to put time and effort in. If you want a friend you have to be a friend.
Being God's friend is as easy as 1, 2, 3:
1. Get to know Him. We discover who God is through the Bible. The Bible is like a long love letter from God to you. In it, He tells you all about Himself, what He likes and doesn't like, what He does and doesn't do, what makes Him laugh and what makes Him cry. On every page He tells you something about who He is - making it easy to get to know Him.
2. Start to like Him. Once you know God, you want to talk to Him and listen to Him, then you can't help but like Him. You'll realise how amazing and powerful He is and become overwhelmed and captivated by His love.
3. Begin to trust Him. Learn to trust God one step at a time. Start by doing one thing you know He wants you to do, like forgiving someone who's hurt you, then wait and see what happens. You'll discover that God's way is always the best way and that He always has your best interests at heart and the right answer for your situation.
