'Clothe yourselves ... with the beauty that comes from within' 1 Peter 3:4
Beauty isn't measured by the contours of your face or the smoothness of your skin. Beauty is gauged by the beating of your heart. Listen: 'Don't be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewellery, or beautiful clothes ... clothe yourselves ... with the beauty that comes from within' (1 Pet. 3:3-4 NLT).
A top beauty company asked its customers to send a picture and a letter describing the most beautiful women they knew. One boy from a tough background wrote this: 'A beautiful woman lives down the street from me. I visit her every day. She makes me feel like the most important kid in the world. We play board games and she listens to my problems. She understands me. When I leave she always yells out the door that she's proud of me.'
The letter ended saying, 'This picture shows you that she is the most beautiful woman in the world, and one day I hope to have a wife as pretty as her.' The photograph wasn't some babe straight out of a L'Oreal campaign; instead a toothless, grey-haired woman, smiled from her wheelchair.
The young boy clearly understood that beauty isn't found in a tub of cream or a can of hairspray. Here's a beauty tip: trade in the amount of time you spend parading beauty counters and preening in front of mirrors for doing something beautiful for your neighbour.
